Carlo Giacosa Barbaresco ‘Asili’ | 2018

Importer Notes:  Located in the commune of Barbaresco, ‘Asili’ is a Cru that is regarded in the top 5 of Barbaresco vineyards and produces wines that are elegant and refined. 

Grapes:  100% Nebbiolo

Farming:  Organic

Vineyard:  Asili.  The Giacosa’s farm 0.4 hectares of the 14 total. SW exposure.

Vine Age:  45 years

Altitude:  250 MASL

Soil:  Calcareous, clay.

Winemaking:  Native yeast fermentation and 15 day maceration.  Aged 2.5 years in French oak (25 hl & 30hl) and an additional year in barrel.  Filtering is obtained by transferring to stainless steel for one month before bottling and allowing particles to settle gently.  Produced with minimal SO2 additions.

Production:  158 cases (9l)

Tasting Notes:  Elegant & perfumed.  Notes of sweet red fruit.

Pairings:  Brasato.
