Tenuta La Viola

In the heart of Bertinoro, a subzone in Romagna, the Gabellini family grow Sangiovese and Albana on their 10 hectares of land.  Originally purchased in 1962 they’ve cultivated the property for over 60 years with the focus of indigenous varieties while farming in line with organic and biodynamic practices.  No short cuts and meticulous attention begins in the vineyards where manual sorting takes place (less vibrant clusters left to fertilize) and continues in the cellar with spontaneous fermentations, lees aging and minimal filtration.  Truly committed to the land and maintaining its natural equilibrium is how they live, work and make wine.  In the short term they aim to make wines of typicity that unite those around them while long term enriching the land for future generations.  An enlightening balance of minimal intervention and classic flavor profiles across the board.
