Importer Notes:  Sourced from the oldest vines and highest elevation vineyards that the Gangemi’s farm on Mount Etna.  Made in limited quantities.  

Grapes:  85% Nerello Mascalese 15% Nerello Cappuccio

Farming:  Organic

Vineyard:  Northern & southern slopes of Mount Etna (Passopisciaro & Biancavilla).

Vine Age:  40-70 years (bush vines).

Altitude:  600-1000 MASL

Soil:  Volcanic

Winemaking:  Fermentation in stainless steel.  2 years in Slavonian and chestnut barrels (25hl). 2 years in bottle.

Production:  300 cases

Tasting Notes:  Ethereal with hints of ripe red fruits mixed with elegant balsamic tones and nuances of toasted almond.  Notes of cocoa, chestnut honey and black pepper that linger.

Pairings:  Smoked meats and aged cheeses.
