Importer Notes: Native to Sudtirol, Lagrein takes its name from the Valley Lagarina where it is said to have been discovered. A compelling and deep red unlike any other and rarely planted outside of these Alpine walls.

Farming: Sustainable
Vineyard: Wangger Farm near Bolzano.
Vine Age: 10-20 years
Altitude: 260-300 MASL
Soil: Sandy, alluvial, morainic (ancient glacier melt).
Winemaking: Fermentation in stainless steel, aging in French Oak (225l & 500l). Blended and aged another 6 months in barrel.
Tasting Notes: Coffee, cocoa, wild berries. Full, complex and deep in color and flavor.
Pairings: Game dishes and strong cheeses.
