Importer Notes: Locally known as ‘Blauburgunder’, Pinot Noir has been grown in Sudtirol since 1850 and fares well with low yields, cooler climate vineyards and rocky soils.
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
Farming: Sustainable
Vineyard: Select vineyards in Appiano.
Vine Age: 10-25 years
Altitude: 400-550 MASL
Soil: Limestone & moraine (ancient glacier melts).
Winemaking: Fermentation in stainless steel, aging in French Oak (225l & 500l). Blended and aged another 6 months in barrel.
Tasting Notes: Berries, violets, smokey vanilla. In later years lends itself to porcini and truffle aromas.
Pairings: Braised lamb shoulder, oxtail, aged cheeses.
