Resting on the western banks of Lake Garda is an ancient hamlet known as Moniga del Garda. In this scenic lake town is where the traditional farmhouse of Monte Cicogna lies. Its vineyards line the shores and have been meticulously cared for by the Matertossi family for over a century. Back in 1908 production began with Pietro Materossi at the helm and many decades later his secrets have passed through several generations.
Today under the tutelage of great grandson Alessandro Materossi the winery still occupies the same walls in what is considered the Riviera del Garda Classico appelation. With a unique mesoclimate influenced by its pristine water body the region benefits from regulated temps in both summer and winter. The limited extremes provide an ideal environment for the local treasures of Gropello Gentile, Marzemino, Barbera and Sangiovese. All of which encompass their prized Chiaretto di Moniga.
